Fresh revelations have emerged on how the Islamic Movement in Nigeria popularly known as Shi’ite started the Boko Haram insurgency in the country as far back as 1997.

This revelation, according to The Nation, was made by the Muhammad Idris, the president of the Human Rights on Non-Violent Initiative, a civil society organisation..
The Minister of Information and Culture, Alhaji Lai Mohammed, has urged journalists how to behave with the news when Nigeria is at war, saying that Nigeria army has met the deadline on Boko Haram.

There was drama at a Federal High Court in Abuja today, December 23, when Nnamdi Kanu, the director of Radio Biafra and a leader of the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) made an objection in court.

But instead of answering the clerk’s question, Kanu began by saying he has an objection to make. His counsel, Vincent Obetta, in his advice urged his client to wait for the case to be fully mentioned before any further objection.

After the clerk was done with calling of the case and the accused person, the judge, A. R. Mohammed, said: “It will be good to appreciate and take into consideration the objection raised by the defendant.”

vanguardngrRefining and Petrochemical Company (KRPC) has begun daily production of 3.2 million litres of petrol. This is contained in a statement signed by MR Ohi Alegbe, Group General Manager, Group Public Affairs Division, Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation (NNPC) on Wednesday in Abuja. It said that the plant began production with an initial PMS yield of about 1.5 million litres, adding that had ramped up its daily yield to 3.2 million litres.

ABUJA, Nigeria — Less than a year ago, the militant group Boko Haram controlled an area of northeastern Nigeria the size of Belgium. It was “a mortuary for the uncooperative and prison for the conquered,” as one unlucky resident described it to me at the time, and it threatened to engulf ever more of the country. The brutal Islamist insurgency had sapped the morale and discipline of the Nigerian army and seemed poised to carve out a caliphate that rivaled the one it had pledged loyalty to in Iraq and Syria.
